Thanksgiving had just passed, and BB was still thinking about all of the fun that he had exploring a corn maze and drinking fresh apple cider – his new favorite thing that the humans had showed him! But when BB woke up the next morning, everything was different!
The world around him was transformed. The entire neighborhood had turned white! Snowflakes danced through the air before settling onto the ground. The trees and their branches were heavy with a soft blanket of snow, bent under the weight. Even the sky seemed different, an endless stretch of pale gray, soft and quiet.
BB rubbed his eyes, not quite believing what he was seeing. Something felt off. There was no sound—the usual morning noise of cars rushing by, distant voices, and he still didn’t know what this white stuff was that fell from the sky! But then he remembered hearing the humans say that snow was on the way – this must be that “snow” thing that they were talking about!
He got out of bed and poked his head outside. The snow was already coming down thick in a way that meant this wasn’t just a quick flurry. It was the real thing, a snowstorm, the kind that covered everything in its path.
BB looked around and from his basic knowledge of the humans knew what this was – A snow day. BB felt a rush of excitement. He didn’t quite understand, but he just knew that there was something magical about snow!
The snow had piled up already—several inches, at least—making the streets look like a winter wonderland. It was hard to believe that just hours ago, everything had been dry!
BB started walking around and the cold hit his face immediately, but he found it refreshing! He took a deep breath and laughed to himself as his little yeti feet crunched through the snow as he made his way toward the park at the edge of the forest.
He was started when a big machine started coming right towards him! He let out a little yelp and jumped into a snow covered bush right back to the park as this big machine made the snow disappear! “Phew” – he said to himself – “that was a close one!”
The park was empty, save for a few kids who had already begun to build snowmen. BB hid behind a snow pile and watched them for a moment, then tried to make his own. He knelt down and started scooping the powdery snow, piling it up in little balls and having the time of his life!
Soon, a few neighborhood kids wandered over, drawn by the sight of this little yeti building a tiny snowman! It didn’t take long before they all joined in, laughing and working together to help him make the snowman bigger – and they made it look just like him – little tuft of hair on his head and all! BB was so happy that he had ventured out of the forest and made so many new friends!
After a while, they decided to have a snowball fight. Everyone was running, laughing, and throwing snowballs in every direction, tumbling in the soft snow and chasing each other while BB was having the most fun of his life so far – his brown yeti fur turned white from making a snow angel!
Before long, the sun had started to set and BB knew that he’d have to get back to his cozy warm spot in the forest and that he’d have to say goodbye to his new friends for now – but he was afraid that he wouldn’t make it back before it got even colder than it already was, so one of his friends gifted him a shiny red sled, and he told BB that he’d able to slid down the hills really fast and that he’d make it back home with plenty of time to spare! His friends got behind the sled and gave it a big push to get BB started, and they all gave him a big wave as he disappeared back into the forest!
As BB fell asleep, he had the biggest smile on his face thinking about the memory of this snow day – of all of the fun that he had, and the new friends that he made! He already couldn’t wait for his next adventure, and he remembered hearing the bigger humans talk about something called “Christmas”, and he couldn’t wait to find out what that was!
