B.B. wakes up in his warm little nest, packed with dry leaves and tucked under the roots of an old oak tree on the edge of the woods. As he stretches his furry arms with a yawn, he sniffs the air, and notices it’s not quite as cold as it has been for many days. The morning sun shining through the branches feels warm on his fur, and he hears the sound of birds singing high above him.

B.B. thinks back to all the different places he’s visited along his journey; the long sandy beach and the vast ocean where he caught his first fish; the glittering city of Las Vegas filled with humans and creatures of all kinds; the race track where he zoomed around after sneaking into the back seat of a car; and even the fire station where he helped clean the engines after stopping a forest fire. There were so many places and people and things, he can hardly remember them all!

As he tidies up his nest, B.B. hears another sound – the sound of many humans talking to each other, coming from the far side of the little patch of woods. B.B. peeks out to see hundreds of humans all gathered together, as if they’re waiting for something to happen. B.B. thinks that he hasn’t seen this many humans in one place since he watched the ball game in the big bowl of cheering people.

B.B. cautiously walks up to the crowd of humans, who all seem so excited that they don’t even notice the little furry yeti. He sees all kinds of people in the eager crowd; short & tall, big & small, old & young. Some are even wearing big yellow hats, fancy yellow glasses, and carrying metal trays.

As he weaves through the group, B.B. hears bits of conversation. “I can hardly wait to get inside!” “Which flavor are you going to try first?” “I heard my favorite restaurant will be there!” “Mm! I can already smell it all the way outside!” B.B. wonders just what could get so many humans this excited! Just then, he smells something wonderfully warm and delicious wafting on the breeze. B.B. follows the scent toward the front of the crowd until…

“Doors open in One Minute!” B.B. hears a loud voice call out just as he reaches the door of a big building. He looks up to see the loud human, who notices him at the edge of the crowd. “Ah! There you are! We were told you might be heading our way today. Here, this is for you!” The loud human stoops down and hangs a card on a string across B.B.’s fuzzy neck. B.B. looks at the card and sees the letters V.I.B.B. written on it. “You’re a guest of honor, a Very Important Baby Bigfoot!” B.B. skips in the air and giggles as the loud human opens the door and ushers B.B. inside the big building.

As B.B. skips through the door, he’s suddenly overwhelmed by the most amazing smell! Creamy? Nutty? Tangy? Toasty? B.B. tries to figure out just what that smell could be! As his eyes adjust from the bright sunshine outside, B.B. sees rows and rows of tables, with big gleaming pans on top of them. Although he is too short to see what’s inside, he can tell by his nose that the wonderful smell is coming from what’s inside the pans!

Just as B.B. starts to think about how he can get to what’s inside, he hears the loud human call out, “time to open the doors! Welcome to Macaroni and Cheese Fest!” B.B. looks behind him and watches amazed as a flood of people start coming through the wide open doors. B.B. scurries quickly out of the way as the crowd heads straight to the tables. He can see the people behind the tables handing out little paper cups, filled with something gooey and yellow. Macaroni? Cheese? B.B. knows he just has to get one of those cups!

As he moves carefully through the crowd, B.B. makes his way up to the nearest table and reaches up with his fuzzy paw. The table is too high! The crowd around him is so focused on getting their own little paper cups that nobody even notices the tiny sasquatch waving his hairy arms for attention. B.B. sits down, pondering how he’ll ever find out just what is in those cups!

Just then, B.B. again hears the voice of the loud human, this time much louder, and coming from the far end of the room, “Attention, Baby Bigfoot! Attention, Baby Bigfoot! Please report to the judges’ booth at the far end of the building!” B.B. is startled by the announcement, but now more curious than ever, makes his way through the crowd toward the sound of the loud voice.

When he arrives, he sees the same loud human, who smiles and greets him, “thank you so much for coming! We are short one judge for the official tasting, would you like to sit in?” B.B. looks over at the judges’ table to see dozens of those paper cups, all filled with that delicious gooey food. B.B. looks up at the loud human and excitedly nods yes! B.B. climbs up onto an empty chair at the table, but he’s still too short – his bright eyes just barely peek over the edge! The loud human brings over a cardboard box and places it on the seat for B.B. to sit on. Now he can see and smell everything clearly!

B.B. sees that each of the little paper cups is filled with different kinds of the delicious smelling food. The loud human tells B.B. that they are all called “Macaroni and Cheese,” but they are each special in their own way. Some have little noodles covered in bright yellow gooey sauce, some have toasty crumbs on top, some even have dark smoky sauce topping them. B.B. eagerly begins tasting each of the cups. They are all so different, but all so good! He tastes one and thinks it could be a little creamier. He tastes another and thinks it’s a little TOO creamy, as the sauce drips on his furry chin! Finally, he tastes a cup that reminds him of the food his Mama Willow made for him, back at his home in the forest. B.B. can taste fresh herbs, warm nutty flavors, and smoky spices that remind him of the smell of hickory tree bark! B.B. bounces in his seat and points at his favorite cup.“By unanimous choice of the judges…” says the loud human, “we have a winner!” The entire room of people cheers as the loud human hands an award to one of the people serving the cups of Macaroni and Cheese. B.B. shakes his hand and rubs his fuzzy belly in thanks for the delicious food.

B.B. hops down from his seat and waves at the loud human as he walks back out of the building full of so many wonderful smells. He decides that when he gets back home to his people, he will ask his Mama Willow to make him a MUCH bigger portion of this, “Macaroni and Cheese,” so that he can share it with the whole family.
