B.B.’s next adventure took him to the snowy woods of the Pocono Mountains near Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. B.B. loved exploring the forest and the historic Main Street, and he especially enjoyed hearing the cheerful sounds that drifted through the trees when the townspeople gathered in town!
One frosty morning, B.B. peeked out from behind a pine tree and saw colorful banners fluttering in the wind. He heard laughter, music, and the jingling of sleigh bells. Curious, B.B. tugged on the pant leg of a human passing by and did his best to ask what was happening.
“Well, hey there, little guy!” the human said. “This is the annual Downtown Stroudsburg Winterfest!”
B.B.’s eyes sparkled with curiosity. He wanted to see the Winterfest more than anything. Snowflakes danced in the air as he made his way toward town, following the sound of laughter and music.
When B.B. arrived, he gasped in awe. The town square had been transformed into a winter wonderland! There were ice sculptures of animals—a cheeky monkey swung from a frosty vine, a proud lion with a shiny mane stood tall in the middle, and a giant polar bear looked around with sparkling ice fur. Each sculpture was so lifelike that it felt like the animals might start moving at any moment! Twinkling lights were strung on every tree, and a giant snowman with a carrot nose stood proudly. Children were skating on a frozen pond, while others roasted marshmallows over a crackling fire.
B.B.’s heart raced with excitement. He wanted to join in the fun! He borrowed a big floppy hat and a pair of fuzzy mittens and stepped into the crowd. As he walked past, a small human put a scarf around him. He didn’t really need it—his fur kept him nice and warm—but he liked dressing up like everyone else.
First, B.B. tried the ice slide. It looked like a shiny, frozen ribbon! It started high up on a hill and twisted and turned like a frosty roller coaster. At the bottom, it ended in a fluffy pile of snow! Kids were laughing and shouting as they slid down, their hats and scarves flapping behind them like superhero capes. B.B. zoomed down on his belly, letting out a squeaky “Wheee!” The kids laughed along with him.
Next, he visited the hot cocoa stand. He loved the sweet, chocolaty drink and even got marshmallow fluff on his nose. A kind lady at the stand gave B.B. an extra cup, saying, “You must be cold, little guy!” B.B. let out a little laugh as he tried to wipe the fluff away.
Finally, B.B. found a group of children building snow forts. The fort looked like a magical winter castle, built from big, chunky blocks of snow and ice with little windows carved out to peek through. There was a curved doorway just big enough for the kids to crawl through, and the floor was packed down smooth. Outside, a tower made of snowballs stood guard, ready for the next big snow battle! B.B. shot one into the air, and everyone cheered when it landed perfectly on top of the fort.
As the sun began to set, B.B. noticed a big stage in the center of the square. A man with a bushy beard announced, “It’s time for the Winterfest Dance! Everyone, join in!”
B.B. couldn’t resist. He waddled onto the stage and started to dance. He twirled, wiggled, and even did a funny Bigfoot jig. The crowd roared with laughter and clapped along. “Who’s that great dancer?” someone asked.
B.B. squealed with excitement as he spun and twirled. A little girl stepped forward and said, “You’re the best dancer here! Let’s keep dancing!”
The townspeople cheered and joined in. B.B. danced his heart out, feeling happier than ever. When the music ended, the mayor handed B.B. a golden snowflake trophy. “To our special guest, B.B. the Bigfoot, for bringing joy to Winterfest!”
B.B. waved goodbye to his new friends as the stars began to twinkle. He hurried back to the forest, clutching his trophy tightly as he wondered where his adventures would take him next. But first, he made a quick stop by the heating station to thaw the snow and ice that were sticking to his fur!
From that day on, B.B.’s heart was full of memories from Winterfest. He knew that next year, he’d be back in Stroudsburg to dance, drink hot cocoa, and share in the joy of the season.
And the townspeople? They would always save a spot at Winterfest for their new furry, dancing friend!
